Rounding Calculator

Round to decimal places, the nearest 1/10/100/1000, or significant figures — with half-up, half-down, and half-even (banker's) results side by side, computed with exact decimal math so values like 2.675 round correctly.

Number and precision

Arithmetic is done on the decimal digits you type, not on the binary float — so 2.675 → 2.68 (half-up), never 2.67.

Half-up result

2.68
rounded to 2 decimal places

Method comparison

Method On an exact tie Result
Half-up rounds away from zero 2.68
Half-down rounds toward zero 2.67
Half-even rounds to the even digit (banker's) 2.68

The remainder is exactly ½ at this precision, so the three methods disagree — half-up goes up, half-down truncates, and half-even picks the even last digit.

Why 2.675 doesn't round to 2.67 here

Binary floating point cannot store 2.675 exactly — it keeps something closer to 2.67499999999999982…, which is why toFixed(2) in JavaScript returns "2.67". This calculator parses the decimal digits you typed as an exact string, so the dropped "5" is a true tie and half-up correctly gives 2.68.
