Reaction Time Test
Click the pad (or press Space) to start, wait for it to turn green, then click as fast as you can. Five attempts - clicking too early is a false start and the attempt doesn't count.

How this test works
What we measure
Simple visual reaction time: the pad turns green after a random delay of 1.5-5
seconds, and we record the milliseconds between the green appearing and your click.
The clock uses performance.now(),
accurate to well under a millisecond.
False starts
Clicking while the pad is still red means you anticipated the green instead of reacting to it. That attempt doesn't count - just click again and keep waiting.
Your score
You get five attempts. We show every attempt plus your best, worst, and average, and rate the average against human benchmarks. Use a mouse or tap directly - trackpads and old screens can add 20-50 ms of hardware delay.
How you compare
The median human reaction time on browser-based tests is around 273 milliseconds. Higher refresh-rate monitors and wired mice measure faster; touchscreens and TVs measure slower.
| Average | Rating | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| under 150 ms | Inhuman | Faster than human nerves fire - probably a lucky guess or a glitch |
| 150-200 ms | Elite | Pro esports players and sprint starters live here |
| 200-250 ms | Very fast | Well above the human median |
| 250-300 ms | Above average | Quicker than most people |
| 300-400 ms | Average | Normal range for healthy adults |
| 400-500 ms | Below average | Tired, distracted, or a slow display |
| 500+ ms | Take a breath | Coffee first, test again after |
