What link quality affects
- Descriptive anchors - "read the brewing guide" tells crawlers and screen readers what the target is about; "click here" says nothing
- rel=nofollow / sponsored / ugc - mark paid and user-generated links so they do not pass authority (or look like a link scheme)
- target=_blank - always pair with rel="noopener noreferrer"; without it the target page can access window.opener
- Duplicates - linking the same URL many times splits clicks across anchors and dilutes internal linking intent
- https - http:// links trip browser warnings on https pages and leak referrer data
